In October 2025, North Macedonia's trade deficit expanded to $394 million, up from $307 million in October of the previous year. This change was primarily due to a 15.4% rise in imports, which reached $1,240 million, while exports increased by 10.25% to total $846 million. Over the January to October period, the trade deficit amounted to $3,206 million. Import activity surged by 7.5% from the same timeframe the previous year, reaching $10,742 million. This rise was largely fueled by increased purchases in categories such as materials, which increased by 9.4%, chemical and related products which rose by 7.3%, and a slight increase in mineral fuels, lubricants, and related products at 0.2%. In contrast, exports showed a more modest growth of 5.6%, totaling $7,536 million. This export growth was driven by a significant 15.7% rise in machinery and transport equipment, a 2.7% increase in miscellaneous finished goods, and a 0.9% rise in products classified by materials. However, there was a 4.4% decrease in exports of chemical and related products.
