06.10.202612:37:38UTC+00Canada Exports Rebound in August

Canada’s goods exports rose 2.5% month over month to C$77.9 billion in August 2026, rebounding from a downwardly revised 2.6% decline in July. Export growth was broad-based, with gains in eight of the 11 product sections.

Energy product exports increased 4.7%, their first rise since April. Within this category, refined petroleum products recorded the strongest monthly growth, surging 17.4%, largely on the back of higher diesel shipments to Peru, the United Kingdom, the United States, and the Netherlands. Crude oil exports were up 2.1%, supported by higher prices. Exports of nuclear fuel and other energy products jumped 58.4%, driven by increased volumes shipped to Germany and the United Kingdom.

Consumer goods exports climbed 6.6%, led by a 43.3% surge in miscellaneous goods and supplies. This was partly attributable to stronger shipments of gold and silver coins to the United States. Exports of industrial machinery, equipment, and parts advanced 10.1%, reaching their highest level since January 2025, while exports of electronic and electrical equipment and parts increased 11%.
