22.12.202514:53:30UTC+00Baltic Dry Index Falls for 4th Day

The Baltic Exchange's dry bulk index, which monitors shipping rates for vessels transporting dry commodities, experienced a decline for the fourth consecutive session on Monday, falling 2.2% to its lowest level since November 4, at 1,979 points. This drop is attributed to typically reduced demand during this season. The capesize index, representing ships that generally move 150,000-ton cargoes like iron ore and coal, also fell for the fourth day, decreasing by 1.8% to a level unseen in over a month, settling at 3,559 points. Similarly, the panamax index, which handles cargoes of 60,000 to 70,000 tons, predominantly coal or grain, fell for the 18th consecutive session, down by 3.1% to its lowest point since June 9, at 1,282 points. Additionally, the supramax index, representing smaller vessels, saw a reduction of 29 points, bringing it to 1,193 points.
